Cambelt Change

Featured Replies

My 2008 Fabia 1.4tdi 80 will be going in for its 80,000 mile service soon. I presume it needs a new belt cambelt quoted at £290 and water pump at £90. Does it require a water pump and does that price seem reasonable.

Also I do about 18,000 mile a year, would it be possible or wise to go on extended oil change?

Just paid £325 for Skoda cam belt kit and water pump. Also comes with 2 yr warranty. Done at an independent that was, until recently, Skoda franchise dealer.

I could have got it cheaper but was happy to use a trusted dealer.

Hope this gives you some kind of benchmark.

Go onto VW website (and skoda maybe too) but they quote the fixed price cambelt service, it's not a bad price I don't think!

On my 1.4tdi 80ps a back street garage (who I trust) did it for me 6 moths ago for about £260 with genuine VW parts and I think VW charge £350 iirc.
