Went looking for flywheel inspection window, could not find it. There is a raised pad in the casting where I expected it to be but this has not been drilled for the inspection window. Did VAG stop providing the window? or am I looking in the wrong place?

That's usually around where the plug is, have you looked further towards the front and rear just to make sure?
