Cleaning Heated Seats - advice?

Featured Replies

So basically im fitting heated seats in my Fabia. I've removed the heating elements from another car with cloth interior but they look in poor condition now they are removed, possibly mouldy? im not sure if extra care needs to be used when cleaning just the heating elements.

ultimitley it doesnt matter since they get fitted away under the seats and you never see them, but id rather try and treat it now before they get fitted and never get seen again!

Picture of parts in question.

Looks like a felt like material ,  i would be very careful cleaning it. You may be able to spray with a mildrew product , to mask the smell.

I was thinking of spraying with the detol cleaner stuff and giving them a good wipe over, they dont smell or anything as such, not that ive noticed anyway.

They do look a bit mouldy, as it has grown in spots, which ia a bit of a giveaway that its some form of living organism. Hardly suprising as it is a warm environment under there with the heating element. I'm sure most will be similar.

Try something with anti bacterial properties mate. It needs to be killed. Detol is a good shout!

Yeah, that was my thinking really!

Tempted to just soak them all in soapy water but that's just me being lazy.

I'll get some good spray and give them a good wipe over before fitting, I guess most of them get wet anyway from damp clothes when it's raining and wet vac cleaners etc..
