Crap in the oil cap

Featured Replies

I would think it's covered in the Haynes manual?

It is covered in the Haynes manual - that's what we followed when we replaced the head gasket with the Temac one only to have the same problems 6 months down the line.

Was there any corrosion on the cylinder head? Did you have the head checked/skimmed?

No corrosion. Head was checked.

And no leaks at all? Including the rad fan switch and the heater matrix connection? If pressure tested does the pressure leak off?

Did you clean the engine block with an oil stone too?

When re fitting cylinder heads, I use an air compressor to blast and clean the head bolt bores as they an fill with oil when removing the head, then when you tighten the bolts, you can get hydraulic lock, where you think the bolt is down tight, only for the gasket to fail again later on. Also make sure your torque wrench is in calibration, can't be too careful.

That sounds as though it might apply as we struggled to get the new head bolts tight enough... Not going through the pain of doing it all again now though as the electrics are going wrong left, right and centre!

Hello,

Little update.

I've been to the garage. Sniff test done and was ok. The mechanic advise me to do an engine and liquids flush and that's it. The mechanic did exclude the HG problem.

I also got that issue. There is no sign of coolant leakage (but yeah, coolant lvl is dropping anyway). Daily I'm doing 50 miles, and I already try flushing liquids. Probably next step will be HG :(
