Already have Amazon Prime, Fire stick any advantage?

Featured Replies

Hi,

As I already subscribe to Amazon Prime, can anyone advise me what advantages would I achieve, over and above Prime content, by installing a Amazon Fire stick?

I read somewhere that superior picture and surround sound when viewing films ( with a theatre system), is an improvement but would it really be better than what I get with my current Prime film viewing and sound system I wonder.

Any guidance will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I think Amazon sometime restricts you getting HD to their devices only.

Saying that my Sony Blueray has Amazon baked in and it does HD.

I suppose it would let you get the streaming video on any newish tv I suppose without relying on an app which will likely only be supported for a few years.

you can put kodi on the fire stick..... then basically you have access to most things the net can provide, I sold all my DVD collections, as all of it is available through kodi...

+1 for kodi excellent software. If you can't find what you want to watch on there within a week of it being released it really isn't worth watching

+2 for kodi

My sammy DVD player has access to Prime HD, however it constantly complained about bandwidth and dropped to SD (its hardwired in to my LAN). The Firestick, on inferior wireless, plays HD perfectly.

Think a Pi2 will be my next setup for Prime access when I can be bothered, the Spotify app on the firestick is a bit flaky so would prefer a Pi.
