Remap issues

Featured Replies

Hi

So after a couple of weeks of saving I finally got around to getting my VRS remapped, managed to get up to 204Bhp I thought he would have got a bit more power out of if it but I am happy enough considering I have only put a pipercross panel into it.

The car now jerks when I lift off the accelerator between 3000-4000 rpm most notably in 2nd and 3rd gear. I brought the car back to the guy that done the remap and he said it is the brake light switch. Does this sound right?

Has he diagnosed the fault using a code reader? or is he just finding excuses?

If it is a genuine fault then get it sorted and if it doesn't fix it then you can go back to him.

The brake pedal switch can do strange things, but you need a scan really. If it was to do with the map depending on your mileage and the fault it's not beyond possibility that an issue takes a couple of weeks to show itself. Get a scan though, a code could be thrown without showing an EML.

By the way 204 is about right for stage 1 with no real changes in hardware. Who mapped it by the way?

Ye he scanned it, i just thought it was a bit strange that a brake light switch could cause a problem when i lift off the accelerator. I'll replace the switch at the weekend hopefully that will sort it.

It was done by a guy called joe power in dublin, he is a sound bloke.

He sounds like a wrestler. An iffy brake pedal switch can fool the ecu that brakes are being applied so it cuts power, in theory though it could do that any time. Get someone behind to check how your lights are behaving.

Did he show you the codes?

Thanks for your help
