Fuel Filter Change Octavia 1.6tdi CR

Featured Replies

Can anyone offer advice on changing a fuel filter on the Octavia 1.6 TDI CR 2010.

I am about to carry out a service and do not want to pay the £240 price tag from the main dealer. The car has done 95k and has been on a variouble service plan with previous owner. Can not find details of when the fuel filter was last changed so want to change it so I know it's been done.

Only thing that worries me is the advice I have read on the internet is that the filter should be primed using the VCRS system as the pump will not prime the filter when the ignition is switched on.

I have read articles from owners who have primed the filter themselves by filling up the filter housing with fuel before turning on the ignition.

Has anyone carried out a filter change recently and what was their experience.

Has anyone found a problem restarting the car.

Advice please.

Hi

just changed my fuel filter ( 2011 1.6 tdi) last month. With what fuel left in the casing was enough to start it without VCDS or undue turning over . It started easily enough then as it ran for 20/30 secs. it started to slow and splutter slightly as the air went through then picked up without stopping and that was that .  No bother !

As the bottom of the filter casing was spotless I didn't take out the fuel left in it ,  if it was dirty I would have emptied it completely and would have had to put some fresh fuel into the casing for easy starting

Thank you for your reply.

I will give it ago this weekend. Can I ask what brand of filter you used. I was going to use a Mann filter as they seem a decent brand.

Thanks again

I would just use an OEM filter, cheap enough from your local TPS branch :)
