Android auto head unit

Featured Replies

Hi there, I've currently got the Amundsen+ unit in an Octavia vrs but the sat nav is just not as good as Google navigation on my phone. I was looking at android auto (the Pioneers have just dropped in price) but have no idea if it would fit, the steering wheel volume would work and most importantly whether the rear parking thing would still come up.

Does anyone have any experience of replacing an Amundsen with an android auto stereo?

Thanks in advance

I've seen dealers listing smartlink instal for sub £150. Assuming a compatible phone (android 5.x or higher) and the ability to load smartlink on your Amundsen, would that be a more cost effective option, whilst retaining all other existing functions?

Must admit that I would be interested in this too but would want to retain steering controls and parking sensor (front and back) visuals if possible.

Tomo, I can only speak to my new SE. Running android auto via Smartlink, everything else continues as normal.

We'd need someone who's replaced the Amundsen with a third party android box to say what effect it had.

Hi Michael, thanks for the suggestion.  Is it possible to add Smartlink to the older Amundsen+ head units(I have a 2013 Octy)  If so that would be the perfect solution!  I like your thinking...

Ah, maybe not. I didn't know what car/year yours was.  It's worth the ask, but judging by this dealer's listing, it's only a retro fit on 2015 models and after:

Sorry, Back to the drawing board then. Good luck.
