Couple of questions

Featured Replies

So had my Yeti a couple of months now, and it' so much better than my Fabia or my old Roomster.

When I bought the car it came with a service. The sicker on the side of the dash say 2 years or 20,000 miles. The display says 8000 to a service. Unfortunately My dealer is a bit naff and I can't get any info on what service it should be on. My service book is a replacement 1 which was not stamped and the car has no build codes. I have stripped out the false floor and spare wheel I fitted and there is no sticker there. Is there anywhere else I can find out what the build codes are for my car.

Also I seem to have a towbar after crawling underneath to take a look. Looks like a dealer fit as it's Westfalia one. It was not sold with a towbar and I don't have the detachable ball. Ayy ideas what I need to order and from somewhere other than the dealer.

Thanks

Glenn

The build sticker should be to the left of the spare wheel stuck on the boot floor.
Is the tow-bar to the right of the spare wheel in the floor?

How old is the car and how many days does it say to a service?

How many miles has it done since the service? That will help us point at which service pattern you are on.

Any decent dealer should be able to give you all the details, so I suggest finding another one and asking. I can recommend Sinclair's in Swansea, but would steer clear of the Black Pigeon in Cardiff.

If the tow bar is a proper Skoda one it will be a Westphalia make, and the tow ball can be ordered from them cheaper than from Skoda, but also check on Ebay as they sometimes come up there. You could also look for a Tiguan one with the proviso that results in the ball height being very slightly higher, but still in a safe position. Check the ball isn't hidden in the below floor box on the right of the boot, or anywhere else in the boot.

Westfalia bars have a label on them near the socket. Skoda do fit Westfalia at the factory.

Vehicles are not issued with service books when new unless you ask. Skoda dealers hold the service on their systems.

Go to a Skoda dealer and ask them for the build spec.

Hi All

Thanks for the reply's

The cars is 2010 and it has a replacement service book. I had the whole boot out and all foam trim and no sticker at all so starting to wonder if it's been in an accident, and been replaced. The matrix says 253 days or 7500 miles, as it was serviced 2.5 months ago I guess it was never reset. I sticker on the side of the dash says 20,000 or 2 years but nothing to prove this. I heard there was an app where you could put a chassis number and get service details. Is this correct and do they do it for the iphone?

The towbar has a skoda sticker on it so guessing it may have been factory fitted. If I had the codes I could tell I guess. They never mentioned a towbar I guess as the did not have the ball.

Thanks

Glenn

That looks like its been set on annual servicing.

As above looks like annual service as its too short for variable especially if it was serviced just 2.5 months ago

Should I have specified a physical service book at the order stage or can it be supplied upon request at the dealership

when I collect my new L&K in April?

When you go to pick it up ask for a hard service book. Its nothing fancy but can be stamped by the service centre.

I would agree with Urrell, that sounds like you are on "Fixed" servicing, which is 12 monthly or 10000 miles, which ever comes first.

Don't know about any phone app, but any dealer can give you the relevant info.

If the tow bar has a Skoda sticker then it will be a Westphalia.

Agreed.

Thank you DonjSZ5 regarding Service Book
