Octavia 1.2 tsi oil top up.

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. I have a Skoda Octavia 1.2 tsi DSG, the car has about 8000 km on it and a check oil level warning was prompted to me earlier. Does anyone know what kind of oil I should use to top it up and how much should I pour in? Thanks.

Castrol Edge 0w/30 full synthetic.

It might need 1 litre to fill from min to max on the dispstick. Fill up slowly and check as you go, so you dont overfill it.

Get into the habit of checking your car each month, Oil, coolant, screenwash, tyre pressure, lights etc. You can damage your engine letting it run low on oil like that.

Alright thanks. I got a call from the local Skoda service in the meanwhile, they asked me to come by tomorrow morning, in order for them to top it up. They said the oil needed is not available in stores. That's unusual, isn't it?

Is oil consumption usual in these cars? Never had to top up oil myself in other cars I've owned.

They can use a bit, especially when new. You need to keep an eye on it to get an idea what it uses, Check it monthly as I said, or before a big journey.

You can get Castrol from all sorts of places, I expect they just want you to pay their high price. Check the price before you agree to the top up.

Should be £8 a litre or so.

Early in a car's life, especially turbos, oil consumption is not unusual. My 1.4 used about 1.5 litres before the first service at 15k km. Since then it hasn't used any.

Yours should should stop burning oil soon, but its always a good idea to check regularly.
