Electronics going crazy?

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,

coming back to the forum to ask for help after a while!

I own an '09 Octavia Combi L&K - 4x4 1.8 TSI, with about 82'000km

I have been abroad for the whole 2015 and the car was only used once a month or so by my dad (just to keep it "alive").

I started using it again now in beginning 2016. The car drives just fine but I have tons of problems with electronics, especially with what I think to be "faulty" error warnings. After a first look on this forum and consultation with my technician we decided to replace the battery with a new one. Almost nothing changed.

Summer is coming and on july I will have to travel a lot and I need the car to be reliable so I am considering to drive it up to a Skoda retailer and do a complete check. Of course this will cost plenty of money so I am just asking if there is something really simple that I should do / try before going to the workshop. Unfortunately I sold my VCDS cable last year so I am unable to do a self-scan.

Any help is appreciated, here is a list of "errors" I get., all of them usually get off after switching off->on the car.

*Engine Fault -> Workshop (I had this once or twice, some kind of "power limiter" is triggered - when restarting the car no more error or problem).

*Brake Fault -> Workshop (I had this after braking on snow).

*ESP Fault (after long steep turns to the left only i.e. roundabouts). Here another system seems to be triggered, making the steering wheel a bit softer - in additions, this error seems to be gone after changing from winter to summer tires last week.

*No bend lighting (AFS).

Thanks
Sino
