Anyone here a member of Canon's CPS?

Featured Replies

A bit of a long story but I ended up buying a couple of Bodies today and I think I am pretty much guaranteed Silver member ships (possibly Gold?) just wondered if anyone on here was a member and was it worth it?

Ta :)

I've been a member for a couple of years now. Is it worth it... Well it's free so not too much of an argument there, you get regular e-newsletters that can be interesting, oooh and a free lens cloth :-). On a serious note I took my bodies in for service last year (Silver membership) turnround was supposed to be a week , but I got the call to say they were ready for collection in a couple of days. As well as cleaning and servicing the internals they also clean the body itself, and it came as quite a shock to realise how dirty the bodies must have been, as they felt completely different when I got them back. I don't live too far away from the Service centre (or rather I pass it fairly often on my travels) so it isn't too much trouble to drop kit off with them. Not sure what the service would be like if you have to post kit to them.

So +ve: its free, you get OEM support for your kit, its pretty efficient, Nice to be able to throw into a conversation that you are a member LOL

-ve: You could probably get a body serviced cheaper, (but would it be to the same standard?)

Thanks for the revelation. I was sad to see that the 7DII is only silver as it will drag my 5DIII down to silver if I read the script right (recently went a bit mad with buying camera stuff). I've 3 L lens too, but I don't quite make Gold with the 7DII. Still they lend you gear if they don[t turn it around quickly enough I am told. I don't know where my nearest service centre is, perhaps I should find out :D Anyone got the serial number for a 1DX they can give me :)

Ah ha, found it. It's in Stoke, so not too far

Yes the bodies are what get you to Gold. I have a 50D and 5DII, three qualifying lenses, two qualifying Speedlites, a Speedlite transmitter and a 1.4 extender and it still isn't good enough :-( Maybe I need to invest again and replace the 50D with a 5DIII. I'm sure I could sneak it in the house without SWMBO seeing it.

There is no loan equipment with Silver membership.

Just got a fantastic deal off Calumet. Got 2 bodies and an L lens with (in theory) a total of £535 cash back, plus Calumet give you £75 to spend in store for each item. Plus the chap who looks after me in Calumet rang up the finance people and got me 0% for 24 months on the lot. just to sweeten the deal he threw in a free fast 32GB SD card and gave me a half price 32GB SanDisc Pro Extreme CF card. Expensive day out though, I only went in for the 100-400mml II and to talk about a new body :D
