Help needed noise from 2011 cr tdi dsg vrs at various speeds

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I've searched and searched and found everyone having different issues.

I have a 2011 octavia vrs dsg with the cr engine. It has a little over 22k on the clocks bought from Watford citygate last December.

I get this humming/loud droning sound intermittently around 30-40, 50 and then around 70 mph.

I took the car back to them last month had the test drive with the technician.

They came back to me and said they have done the wheel bearing under the warranty.

The problem is I've noticed the noise is still there. I don't have any Uneven wear patterns on the tyres. As that was something the tech said to be aware off.

I'm very worried as I don't want to keep taking the car to the garage and wasting my time as I have a baby on the way and I work nights as it is.

I don't rag my cars and even if I put the car in sports mode you can tell the noise is still there and is evident if you get up to speed and let off the throttle.

Any advice or shed some light on other possibilities would be much much appreciated.

Kind regards

Bav

Is it coming from the front or back?

So sorry for the late reply, it's the front and the other day while driving the tyre warning light has come on. This is the second time since owning from December.

The weather has been better so had the window open while driving I could also hear what seem to be the rear discs rubbing like a knife being run across a stone sort of noise.

I got that noise when my rear brake shields were on the way out. Check to see if they're loose? (Just reach through alloy spokes and give them a jiggle)

The shields are fine, I just dont want to start forking money out on tyres etc and it doesn't sort the problem out as theres plenty meat left on these eagle f1's, mmmmmmmmmm the joys of owning a motor.

Is it worth a try in me swapping the rears with the front?

Yeah change front and back wheels. If the noise changes to the back then you know the tyres are the culprit.
