There isn't much. It says the usual stuff - there's disabled everything except the mandatory things and nobody's saying what does include. Basically it can be anything. I'm a bit tired of this nowadays "everything for your safety" thing. Phone that sends information about me, car that does the same etc.

Hello there, I've got 2021 Octavia. I'm thinking about disabling e-sim and GPS - all telemetry off etc. And I would like it not only in software level but I'd like it to be disconnected in hardware level as well. Anyone has done that? Looks like I won't be able to do it on my own and anyway I have to talk to a professional, but any experience would be appreciated.

I've got Octavia from 2021. For some while I was disappointed because it wasn't a "go for a brand new one and visit dealer for maintantance issues only" experience. However after hearing stories about other brand new cars, looks like it's not that bad. Somehow people with new cars have way more problems nowadays. In overall it think that quality should be better. In the very beginning my battery discharged twice. First time I thought that it was my fault somehow but actually it wasn't. Some software didn't go to sleep and drained it. Dealer solved this. Then I had interior lighting issues (switched on/off on it's own). Windscreen wiper motor died. Some clutch pedal bearing (if i recall correctly). All this was annoying but it was solved. Then there were 2 major things: 1) Parking sensor fault. During wintertime these sensors didn't work at all. I believe that car thought the battery was not full enough or something like that. I visited dealer for several times and each time I had a useless update. Only after 4 (!!!!!) years it was solved. 2) Keyless system sucks. During summertime everything is mostly fine however during autumn/wintertime it often doesn't work at all. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. As I understood from the dealer, there are different handles and some are reliable but some not. That's my experience. What will be yours - who knows. Maybe these issues are yesterday and there are some new.

I've driven 2 mk2 Octavias - FL and pre-FL and everything seemed to be fine according to the sound quality. I don't expect much but this sound system feels rather cheap (I mean - crappy). Maybe it was worse in mk3 but I haven't driven one. I hadn't really an option to get that USB port next to the mirror. Either I had to wait 6-7 months for the car or I could get one in 3 weeks but with some standard equipment. I chose the second option because it was like 95% everything I wanted. That port wasn't in the list unfortunately. By the way, it wasn't a very cheap option for some simple thing like a USB port... These 2 USB ports seem to be hidden a bit too deep but maybe that's only my opinion. Sometimes 2 can be not enough and the car didn't support the hub I tried to attach. In overall I might have different thoughts but all these small faults... Every time I'm starting the car, I get the feeling - what's gonna happen this time? Nothing, really? Parking sensors working? Strange...

I'm an owner of an Octavia for about 9 months or so (13k km driven). I might say that I'm rather disappointed with this one compared to the mk2 facelift Octavia. Mostly because of these reasons: 1) all these annoying ecology and safety things (all these beeps, start stops etc. Lane assistant is SUPER MEGA annoying). I understand that maybe in this case it's not Skoda's fault but anyway - that's soooo annoying. Driving on 2 cylinders maybe saves fuel but the feeling is like driving a diesel. 2) basic sound system of mk2 was far better than this one on mk4. This one is really crappy. 3) all these bugs in electronics make me feel like the car has been created in Russia. In the very beginning there was a battery draining thing (solved). Then there are sometimes not working parking sensors (hope it does get solved), faulty interior lighting and other minor things. Like I said, 13k only but I've been to dealer's more than I used to visit the garage with the old car. 4) I get a feeling that it's lower than mk2 and that sometimes causes trouble. 5) where did they get such windscreen wipers? Maybe usable in Italy but when it's colder then they are so damn loud. 6) no 12V socket??? WTF? Only one in the boot. There are 2 usb c-type sockets there but that's not enough. 7) electric handbrake and no way to move the car in case something happens - that's so lame. 8 ) that touchscreen is not the best way to do things. In older cars you could do all the stuff with not even looking any of knobs. Now you either watch the road or take a look at the menu after another menu, trying to find something. If the menu is working properly, of course. Is there anything good to say? Well, it drives, the power output of 1.5 TSI is satisfactory for me. Fuel efficient (the annoying part about it is written above).

Looks like I'm not the only one. The car is at the dealers's today. Also faulty parking sensors. Yeah, the new Octavia is rather crappy...

Do you have a mobile phone next to your car key? Sometimes my car doors do not open (boot opens always) but it starts fine and I found out that it happens when the key is in the pocket together with the mobile phone. Then I started putting this key into another pocket and it seems to work. Probably some overlapping frequencies or so.

Sounds not great at all. Called the dealer and 6-7 months for getting a brand new car doesn't sound great. Now starting to think about other options

Thinking about buying one mk4 but these fault reports make me a bit worried. I understand that probably I won't be the one that suffers from that but anyway I'm willing to find out a bit more about that. Are these considered to be serious errors? Basically I don't care much about navigation, info system etc. If engine works fine, lights are on, aircon works nicely then that's not the worst case. I understand that you might expect everything to be 100% perfect for a brand new car but in case (I hope it won't happen for me) something is not fine, I'd like these faults to be minor ones, not stalling engine or like that.

As always, these things happen then when you have a vacation, some holidays and so on...

Hey, Today all these things in the title appeared. Can't recall if they were all three together at once but after starting the car again, ABS warning was on and after some little driving two other appeared - tyre pressure warning and the one that shows slippery road. My Carista reader didn't show any errors. Car's MFD says - "ESP/ABS error" or something like that. Otherwise the car drives without any problems and breaking is fine. Not sure about proper ABS performance because I haven't tried that hard braking and the roads weren't that slippery. I tried reading about this thing and seems like many people have such issue and in many cases they even drive for a long time without any problems. Should I go to the garage ASAP or this isn't a big deal? Any ideas?

You don't need either W or Y because that vrs is not capable of doing that kind of speed. Theoretically same tyres with V, W or Y at the same speed (let's say - 130 kph) would act the same.

I wouldn't bet that pessimistic. Car manufacturers have to create a car that fits to everyone - so it must be strong enough but meanwhile it shouldn't consume much fuel etc. But I believe that if you need it for your certain needs than it can be tweaked that way. At least I've talked to people remapping cars and they said that some people choose the fuel saving and they do that.
