There is a YouTube video showing the rear LED tail lights tweaked as DRLs but not all of the traditional C shape lights up. As well as the "C" shape you can select just the verticals, horizontals top, horizontals lower, all  horizontals, "L's" (smile) and upside down L's (tunnel). All completely useless but good fun.

LED lights transition from on to off instantly. It's halogens that you can see softly turning on or off as the filament heats up/cools down

I was assuming that the gradual lighting was part of the lighting tweak.

It's done with a camera fade - keep an eye on the background.
