linkage or gearbox?

i've got a 06 model with 94k on the clock brought 2 weeks ago, was driving fine for test drive & first few runs but all of a sudden whilst changing down gear for a junction i was unable to select 2nd gear. All the other gears & reverse are working fine & smooth it's just getting it in/out of 2nd. Taking it back to the dealer tomorrow for them to check over but was just wondering if this sounds like a linkage problem rather than the whole gear box? Normally i would be up for fixing most things but at 8.5 months pregnant crawling around under a car is'nt an option
