Rear Droplinks and Anti Roll Bar

Featured Replies

I'm looking to fit 2x new droplinks and a Whiteline Rear ARB :)

I've also bought a spline socket set

The only tool I don't have, which I may need, is a torque wrench - is this necessary?

I've looked at this thread - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/152785-fitting-a-new-rear-anti-roll-bar-on-a5-chassis/ - but for some reason the text has a load of symbols and the thread mentions the Whiteline ARB having no fitting kit, which mine appears to have :S

The Whiteline kit (haven't opened it yet) seems to have the bushes, mounts and bolts and the droplinks come with 4x nuts and bolts.

Anyway, the purpose of this thread is for a couple of questions :)

Do I need any other nuts/bolts or am I set to go?

The thread references a bolt which can't be torqued up without a specific tool - is this the loose bolt on the droplink that has a hex in middle of the bolt? Is this the bolt that the thread refers to replacing with a standard M10 bolt and nyloc nut? Anyone else done this?

Axle stands or ramps? I've seen both recommended - some saying wheels in the air is easier, but the official method is with wheels on the ground? Any recommendations or reasons for one over the other?

Any tips would be appreciated, as this doesn't look to have been covered for some time, though feel free to point me in the right direction :)

Thanks

Although I cant help much....
Firstly I think the weird symbols are from an old forum database recovery.
Second, follow it as best you can as the car mentioned in that thread handles like its on rails (I've driven it, and not gently either!)

The pictures in the ebay link for the Delphi droplinks are fronts not rears but from experience I wouldn't go for Delphi as the last pair I used only lasted 6 months. Try Lemforder or Meyle HD.

There's a thread around here somewhere that may be worth reading about squeaking bushes with the whiteline RARB.

May help you tackle a problem before it happens.

Got the drop links already. Did some reading and Delphi seemed OK according to other owners club threads. Never mind. I'll see how they go and at least they're cheap enough to replace if needs be. Plus, I'll know how to change them once I've done it once!
