Hi Everyone

I had some damage done to the rear back small seat of my Octavia 2013 vrs.

 

I have no idea how this happened it looks like a chemical has damaged the bolster vinyl...

 

The dealer is saying it would cost upwards of £300 pounds plus labour to replace the cover...

I was trying to see if an upholsterer  might replace the damaged vinyl..no luck in my area yet.

 

Any ideas how difficult it might be to take the rear back small  seat out and get this done.

Thank you just got your message and it is too dark to take a picture plus not sure how to get them on the forum.... Basically. The vinyl on the back seat on back rest has turned to tar. Black grunge. I checked under the estate boot cover and no sign of any spillage from the boot estate floor so it has not come from there. Either side of the single seat vinyl at bottom where it goes under the base of the bench seat has melted and it has spread upwards to destroy quite a large section of vinyl.. I can only think that a child's car seat may have had some contamination in the rim that touched the vinyl and over months has rotted the vinyl into a black tar. Luckily the leather has not been touched. We may not have noticed it as the back seats are hardly ever used so we may have missed it for months..

Anyway, it needs to. Be repaired and not sure what to do. I don't know if taking the single back rest is easy to come out.... If it were then I guess I could ship it to a good upholsterer. That's what the skoda garage suggested as the less costly option....

Is it difficult to get the back single out and any ideas I would be grateful as at a loss.

If it has melted then no easy repair.

 

Ebay for a seat (or on here), try to find a new cover and see if you can fit yourself, send it away.

 

Or if your not bothered, gaffer tape.

Thanks asked the tech section for advice on how to get the back of the single seat off to send it away. Does not look easy and I have no idea who could upholster the vinyl for me. It's a great car thus want it back to perfect
