Which engine?

Featured Replies

Got the 110 DSG. Having never driven a Skoda, this thing has been the best car I have bought. Zippy and very frugal. It's a pleasure to fill up each week!

And the engine just gets better as you put miles on it. Mines closing on 7k miles now and shaping up to be a right little pocket rocket....when there is a need or you just want to play. Actually feels very similar to my old Fabia Mk1 vRS but without the pleasantly gruff soundtrack. DSG is a great match for the TSI 110 but I guess it all comes down to personal preferences. Must give it a session in Sport mode one day...not felt the need yet.

That's interesting as our 110 6 speed has just passed 7k, & definitely feels like it's getting quicker.

My new 90 has done 350 miles, and it's already got quite the spring in its step for such a small, and new, engine. I'm very impressed. Been getting over 40 mpg around town, rising to high 40s on my longer commute too.

My Octy scout was in for a service on Tuesday and they gave me a nice shiny 16 plate Fabia as a courtesy car.  Guessing it was a Colour Edition - white with black roof and black alloys and think it may have been the 90bhp engine as it had a 5 speed gearbox.

I was very impressed by the ride quality and the engine, overall a nice package.

All it lacked are a few bells and whistles I am used to in the Octy Scout.  If I downsize I'd certainly look at the Fabia, although the 110bhp engine and DSG might appeal more as the left knee is getting worse the older and more grizzled I get, so an auto box might be a good idea!

Went for the 90 meself with a manual box simply because I believe that there has to be less strain on all kinds of parts and a test drive convinced me that it has enough shove for my liking. Had it for around a year now and it seems to be actually getting better - it actually showed 63 MPG when I did a 20 mile trip the other day! Have to say that I am not the boy racer type however.
