2011 Towbar Prepped Wiring diagram?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've got a 2011 Octavia that has been factory prepped with Skoda towbar that originally from what I understand had a 13 pin socket.  Someone has since changed the original to a 7 pin socket and I want to go back to using a 13 pin.  I've been in the boot and found the wiring has just been cut and re-attached to the 7 pin socket.  Behind some insulation tape there were three extra wires, those being, a heavier gauge to the rest Brown, a red wire with yellow stripe and a green/black wire.  I know the functions of the other wires as those are attached to the 7 pin socket and so can be moved across easy enough.  Whilst I have original documentation for the towbar, I have none of the fitting guides.

Does anyone know the functions of the three wires?   I'm guessing earth, reverse and something else?

And yes I understand that the caravan functions I need to wire in my own split charge/fridge relays.

Thanks!

Update!

I did some poking around and found the Brown to be Earth, the green/black to be reverse and the red/yellow to be a +12v. Although the gauge of that permanent live leaves it to be little use at the socket.

One nice thing about the factory wiring, is there is no BEEP BEEP BEEP when the trailer is connected for indicators, however when a bulb goes out I get the amber bulb warning and the indicator speed on the dash increases.

Next weekend I'll be running new 12v wires to the rear and adding my charge/fridge relay then my 13pin will be fully functional!

I can't help with what the wires are but may be worth looking at the Westfalia wiring instructions, available on P F Jones website, as it details all the wires.

I assume you have the control box in the boot in which case i have additional wiring kit for the charging circuit which came with my 13 pin wiring kit but I never required it. If you're interested PM me.
