Air con problem and water in spare wheel space

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a couple of issues with my car, the first is the air con, I took it to a garage the other day to get it regassed and it came back that there was a leak somewhere! I'm going to investigate the weekend and have a look if I can see or hear anything, any ideas where to look? We will be taking off the belly plate and having a look underneath.

Also I have noticed that underneath the back of my car by the exhaust, there has been a spot of water on the driveway, having looked at the spare wheel I can see water at the bottom... any ideas how that's getting there?

The rear washer has never worked since I got the car so I wouldn't of thought that would be related.

Any ideas will be appreciated

Suggest you call Vehicools: http://www.vehicools.co.uk/contact/

Just had them to regass my Octy, quick job, possible very slight leak on condenser (but it has taken 2.5 years to leak).

Vehicools are in Basingstoke, he came out to me in Wokingham.

Thanks for that, my garage where I took it to charge £48+ VAT. And could investigate things further by putting a dye in to see where the leak is, I will have a look and listen the weekend and see what happens.

I get a leak in the boot if I park front end pointing down hill.  If I park uphill or on the flat then no problem.  I was told that there are some flaps behind the rear bumper which can stop operating correctly and could be stuck slightly open. I guess I will investigate one day but I don't think it's a quick job to get to the flaps.  This is all what I've been told so I don't know for sure.

If its not leaking from the rear window washer, it is most likely water coming from the rubber boot strip. There are holes are the top which allow water and air to escape. The only problem is at the bottom the same holes appear inwards to the boot which leads to water build up inside the boot.

There have been a number of owners including myself who have cut small holes in the bottom of the strip to let water outwards. I had an issue with the windows not clearing or having excessing damp buildup on the windscreen on wet days which I thought was to do with the pollen filter and the AC. It turned out I had a water in the rear as you do.

You can be careful and do the same and see if that helps. I cut two holes at the bottom of the rear weather strip and now no more misty windscreen!

Thanks for the advice lads, I have looked at the thread and will look into a couple of things the weekend.

Many thanks

if it has a leak, I would bet money the lower front of the condenser has a hole in it. It's a very common fault with the vrs due to the large gaps in the lower grille.
