Right update:

The components I am looking at have a mounting depth of 66.8mm (there 6.5") what do we think chaps, will these fit (obviously with spacers)

Cheers

IMO the VRS prduces quite a lot of bass engine noise from tickover up to and including normal speeds. Look at the frequency response of the speakers and go for a 6.5" component set that play low and are responsive. I've read that RE components are good on Talkaudio but I haven't heard them.

I've got auto-leads or similar spacers in my car, they're designed for a Golf but fit. Dunno whether it's a Golf 3/4 or 5 though. I decided to pay dosh to get the job done rather than clutter the house up with another pending project :)

If you're not going to amp. the components, go for the best, most sensitive ones you can and accept that it won't sound as good as it should until you amp. it.

Genesis profile series amps (well the profile 2 at least) will fit under the passenger seat. If they don't float your boat, look for something similarly slimline and fan cooled. Another plus for the Genesis is that all of the inputs and outputs are on one face of the amp. meaning the other end can butt flush against frames etc.

Well, my Kappas are 70mm ish and they're pushing on the door card grill, or are at least close enough to make them fart loudly on heavy bass. Long term I'm going to stanley kinfe the slats out, and put some kind of rubber seal in around it to tidy it up. Thats deep, but I think OK.

I got some 69-70mm ones in a box waiting for some warm weather, so let me know how it goes if you do put them in Walkie :D
