any chance we might get some?

I wouldn't think so, somebody would have to put their balls on the line first and risk losing a lot of money on a court case, but if somebody in the UK did manage it I'm sure others would follow

VAG won't pay a penny to the owners of cars affected in the UK unless they are forced to do so.

In US there is also an offer to buy back the cars as well as give $2,000-$7,000 compensation depending on age of the car.  I would certainly go for that in the very, very unlikely event something similar was offered here.

"Owners of the 500,000 cars in the US affected by the VW emissions scandal will be offered 'substantial compensation', and the option to sell their vehicle back to VW, after the VW Group struck a preliminary deal with US authorities over the dieselgate emissions test violations.

A settlement has been reportedly reached on American soil to the tune of $10.2bn with cash payments to be made of around $5,000 although they could reach up to $7,000 (roughly between £1,400 and £5,000 in sterling!)

Yet despite this news, they are still refusing to pay compensation to UK victims!
Payment values will depend on things like the type and age of the vehicle, and some of the money will go to the U.S. government for setting the scheme up. But the important thing here is that victims are set to receive payouts for what has happened, which is important in the wake of news of resale values being impacted by the scandal.

Owners of affected vehicles will be given the choice of either selling their car back to VW, or having the company fix the vehicle so that it meets the US emissions standards without the cheat software that was built in. Any owner with a lease deal on their car will be allowed to cancel the finance agreement but no technical details of what the fix will involve have been released.

my 15 plate has done 40,000 its lost value anyway but the emissions scandal will have added to that, i might take it to a skoda dealer for a P/X valuation then moan loudly

We will get nowt !

Diesel Taxis / Private Hire cars lose value anyway so how do you work out when one is losing extra,

you need to compare against another high mileage Taxi do you not?

The difference here is that the government has done nothing to seek recompense whereas in the USA the authorities pursued VW and fined them and made them settle so perhaps our only option is to take it to the EU courts..............oooooooops

Or an ideal opportunity for Boris to show us what an independent Britain can do...

Do ???

F*** ALL

Sure, the EU have a great track record of putting their foot down in the past.

VAG have nothing to fear in Europe.

A court case lost in the Republic of Ireland might cause them a bit of grief, as might one in a Scottish Court or one in England, Wales or Northern Ireland.

Maybe an action raised against Skoda will be an issue for the Volkswagen Group.

As is being said in the media, that Fat Lady has not started to warm her voice up yet.

The Volkswagen Group are not out of trouble yet, they need fixes for all affected 2.0, 1.6 & 1.2 TDI vehicles in Europe

or to reach some agreement with Governments that this is not possible and no need to do this.

The Scottish Government might be having the UK Government once there is a new Prime Minister have the DfT / DVSA

do something about DPF Removal and UK MOT's.
