As I'm going to Stuttgart in a few months, I need to retrofit a DPF in order to be compliant with the LEZs that just about every German city of respectable size has. Similarly to the London zone, I'll need a certificate of fitment, so one assumes that this isn't a DIY job.

 

How much does retrofitting cost, and at what sort of venue would I get it done?

 

 

I'm pretty sure you can't retrofit a DPF.

It would require many sensors and controls that your car was never designed to have.

After 2012, yeah. The scheme was brought in in 2008. I've had a look online and gotten more familiar with what DPFs are and do, and it's looking quite infeasible to retrofit a DPF to a Euro 3 engine which I believe that mine is.
