Ventilated Seats

Featured Replies

Hi, is there any way to increase the airflow through the ventilated seats on my L&K S3?

Even on full I would like more airflow! Settings 1 & 2 are largely redundant.

I've had a look at them in VCDS. setting the highest speed above the default 100% knocks them out completely.

They are pretty underwhelming IMO. the airflow on level 3 would be more suitable as level one with more power on levels 2 and 3.

Given they way ventilated seats work, they will never be a hurricane. The fans have a tremendous amount of static pressure to overcome via the seat foam and the perforated leather. The fan motors would need to be considerably more powerful and would therefore be unreasonably noisy and power hungry.

I did a seven hour journey last week (6 1/2 hours actual driving) when the outside temerature did not drop below 28 degrees, had the ventilated seats on (3 bars) for the whole journey and stepped out at the end feeling as fresh as a daisy, yes they do not blow very hard but they do keep your back and the 'bit you sit on' cool enough. E class Mercs that I have had with this feature are about the same power.

Don't think you need that much for it to have an effect.

If I want them to be a little cooler then I put the A/C on and have the cold air blowing into the footwells, this will logically mean the air the fan is blowing will be cooler

I would imagine a few people have wondered why the ventilated seats aren't directly linked to the A/C system. Pumping chilled air through the seats would eventually lead to problems like damp and/or condensation in the seat padding, worst case scenario would be mould formation! This would be nigh on impossible to fix, bar replacing or refurbishing the seats.

I find wearing jeans seriously blunts the performance of the seats for obvious reasons. I drove the car in shorts the other day and the ventilation is more apparent.

I wear jeans all the time for work (yes, I have the beige interior......) so I don't get the full effect of the ventilated seats most of the time.

Bad logic I'm afraid, Gizmo...

It's sucking, not blowing. (Debbie does Dallas a Superb's ventilated seat?)

If you have any doubt then try putting a small piece of paper (like a till receipt) on the seat back with the ventilation turned on maximum and you'll notice it's gripped in place. Turn the ventilation down or off and the paper falls.

It's actually more efficient operating that way as it's sucking the A/C's cooled air from the cabin over your thighs, crotch and around your torso.

So leave your air vents in the normal positions, as that's how it works best.

It's also handy if you accidentally fart pass wind, too. It gets sucked away and you can blame someone else for it!

Well all I can say is it must be cooling the top of the seat down as well, as it certainly feels cooler that way.

Out of curiosity where would the button for ventilated seats be located. I have the business edition 150 bhp diesel.

They are combined in the same switch for the heated seats.

If you have ventilated seats you will have perforated leather.

On pressing the switch a display comes up on the screen allowing you to select hot or cold ventilation or just heating.

This is only available with leather seats? Any pics possible of the swich?

Pretty sure it's only available with leather seats, and they're not standard on the UK business trim.

EDIT: in fact they're not standard on any UK trim.

Hello! I have a Skoda Superb from 2018, and the ventilation in the back of the driver's seat no longer works, the passenger's seat works perfectly. I get the following error on VCDS:
  1 Fault Found:
657156 - Fan 1 for Left Seat Backrest
           B14C9 31 [00001001] - No Signal
Has anyone changed the seat back fan? On the Internet, I did not find any tutorial or information about the procedure for changing the fan. Thank you!
