I put our RNS510 in my 2007 Roomster Scout today and promptly discovered a problem which is new to me;

 

The RNS will follow my position accurately whilst driving, but the navigation directions don't compute this information and the route doesn't start ... weird. 

 

The position arrow is spot on at all times. 

 

Our RNS310 does not suffer this problem in the Roomster

 

Any ideas folks?

What car did you take the RNS510 out of?

2006 Golf Plus. 

 

I think the GPS is correctly showing the car's position, but as no speed signal is sent by the car's systems the actual navigation never starts. 

 

No way around the 1.6 canbus situation - well, not without spending £200 on an adapter & wiring loom
