Blue Flashing Lights

Featured Replies

On my way home from work yesterday on the M60 an old scruffy black 52 reg BMW passed me with blue flashing lights on the roof and on the dashboard. I was a bit suspicious that the driver had put them on the roof to get through the traffic.

Who has authority in the UK to drive on the roads with blue flashing lights?

Police, Fire, Ambulance, Coastguard, Bomb Disposal, HM Protection, Fire Officers (seen quite a few with their own car), Mountain Rescue, HM Revenue and Customs,

Nationol blood service/ Organ service, and special military service personell (SAS) and The MoD plod.

Doctors use green lights.

There's lights you can get off ebay to imitate the above but it's illegal.

Found this on Wiki; even the coal board can use blue lights in a mine emergency!

also permitted are the RNLI if a boat needs launching.

you could pretty much get away with driving with blue lights on anything, get stopped, have a accident or something and you might be in hot water...

Blue lights are basically asking for us to claim some exemptions and asking others to give us some room that's all

Did you get the reg number?

Dial 101 and ask them.

A few years back in traffic an older Honda came behind with the strangest siren ever and lights behind grille everyone moved over and he filter through

Clocked the reg and phoned local police and to their credit they phoned back and confirmed it was a police car
