this may be a dumb question but Skoda manuals are usually written by troglodytes and therefore unclear about anything except for major breakthrough novelties like use the key to unlock the car. 

 

From the description of the VAQ installed on the vRS230 one would assume that XDS is obsolete as its function is to "simulate" some effects of the true LSD. From my amateur point of view I do not see a situation where you would use the XDS if you have the VAQ. 

 

So does the 230 have XDS? If so, why? When does it engage? Why is the VAQ not being used instead?

From what I know it's in there as you can bring it up with VCDS but it's not activated because as you say a 'proper' LSD beats it hands down
