Fabia vRS head unit advice

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, how is the head unit of the Fabia vRS rated ?

Just ordered a vRS but have a 10 week wait, and have a Clarion DXZ428R head unit in my current Fabia which I really rate, but only put it in to get a CD changer as my current fabia just had a radio/cassette.

My Clarion wasnt that expensive, about

The Clarion will sound and look better than the standard factory fodder ;) The screen is bloody awful...

Do it

Hi Guys, will take this opportunity to introduce myself! Theres a 10week wait for my (Silver) vRS also.....(need to flog the VTR!)

Am thinking of getting a replacement HU , I take it that it should be a straight swap? Or are adapters/additional connectors required?

Am thinking of getting a Pioneer DEHP77MP, have heard some rave reviews about sound quality - anyone have experience of this unit?

Cheers in advance:thumbup:

The permanent live and switched live may need to be swapped. You can get adapters to do this without cutting wires but they can be a tight fit behind HU's in some cars.

You also need to watch out and disconnect any unused pins on the Skoda connector as these may be Skoda specific management cables etc which your aftermarket HU doesn't use and could play havoc with if you connect them up.

Ok thanks Ill keep that in mind. :)

If anyone owns/owned a DEHP77MP I would like to hear some comments on difficulty/issues when fitting. Also how great the SQ is ....Help convince me to buy it!

Cheers.

IMO the Clarion should sound a lot better.

Apparently the VW/Skoda CD/tuners can suffer from interference problems. Mine doesn't to any noticeable degree but I was warned when I had my kit installed that it might.

The factory h/u doesn't have any meaningful EQ on it. I can't find a setting that gives me enough impact in the bass.

There's a surround plastic thingy which you'll need to cover up the otherwise cr*p holes you'll leave in your centre dash section.
