VAG silver trim paint - which one?

Featured Replies

Got a new Passat Alltrack & the silver trim paint on the bottom front valence has come off (when washing).

Thought I would just get a a touch up pen or bit of paint from VW parts. However when I rang and gave them my reg number they said they only had the main body colour as a touch up paint.

I asked if they had a generic silver trim paint, very sharp NO was the answer. Told me to take it to a paint shop.

Surely VAG can supply a silver trim paint.

Anyhow, has anyone got a part number or can recommend a silver trim paint for a VAG car, I would imagine its all very similar.

Attach is a stock photo of the car. The trim in question is the very bottton front piece.

Maybe make the contact with VW UK Customer Services as they have the contacts with VW Germany to get the actual paint code to match the painted trim parts.

Not beyond them hopefully.

They have not much else to do as they twiddle their thumbs at present.

This isn't new.

It has plagued the Scout models in the Skoda range for years.

The grey paint used on the plastic wheel arches and bumpers was never available from Skoda or Audi (same colour as the Allroad models).

Luckily several suppliers mixed their own so it was available to buy online etc.

Given that your Passat is under warranty and that the damage isn't as a result of damage I'd be pursuing a warranty claim. Or given that it is a lease car checking out the fair wear and tear guide, it'll likely not get flagged on collection if it's only a small area.

Doh, i missed that in the OP about while washing.

So a VW Warranty Manager can be arranging the repair, and as a gesture the repairer can supply so paint for future touch ups.

Possible the front valance already had some repair from 'In transit damage'.
