SE SPORT or SE-L or wait?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I was originally looking at a superb however situation has slightly changes and the Occy 3 looks alot of car for the cash. I quite like the SE SPORT as it has the xenon's and you can have some decent 18s to glam it up a touch. The SE-L does seem to have much the better spec however and then there's the impending facelift...

Haven't been able to find much on the se sport as it's fairly recent, does anyone have one? Have views on one?

Superb is bigger and a newer car. The Sportline model looks good.

With hindsight I would have considered the Superb more. With a good discount theres not much in it.

I should have put the sport pack on my SE.

The 18" Turini wheels black, black grille mirror and hatch spoiler.

Picking mine up next weekend, was looking to replace my Superb with an Octavia, cannot really justify another Superb, but wanted an estate. Originally looked at an SE estate, but at the dealership they had an SE Sport, the extra kit Xenons, Sat Nav etc couple that to the deposit contribution, free fuel and a sensible trade in, meant for us a good deal. It's a parts bin special I can live with that, only had to add a spare wheel and got sunset glass almost thrown in as it was a stock vehicle sat in Emden.

Thanks for the replies guys, anyone experienced the "sports" seats, in the few pictures I've seen they look a bit tacky, almost like the stretch seat covers you get at weddings.... Also the SESport seems limited in options, for example you can't even spec the DSG paddles...

Been looking at these and not sure I would go for the Sport over the basic SE purely because I don't think in built Sat Nav is really worth bothering with over linking a smartphone with Google Maps. Also you can get 18s on the "base" SE.

Hey!

Picked up my SE Sport Friday, love it so far! Much more kit than a stock SE. The xenon's see m excellent and they are worth the extra cost alone. With all the other extras included i'd say its well worth it. Love the seats, comfy on an 800 mile round trip at the weekend!

Picked mine up Saturday, first impressions are that it is a well screwed together car. Plenty of kit, sat nav, xenons etc. In terms of the seats the dealer had a red interior car that we originally looked at and I wasn't so keen on the seat material, went for the black interior, which in my opinion is much better and certainly doesn't feel tacky, but I have to say looks far better in the flesh than in the pictures. Seats are comfortable, I suffer from a bad back and on the drive back yesterday from Bournemouth to home a good three hours, felt comfortable and supportive.

It is a parts bin special prior to the facelift and if you see it in that light, then it represents good value, I'm not one for optional extra although I did spec a spare wheel for peace of mind and ended up with sunset glass as the car was from stock at Emden, and the dealer pretty much discounted that.

Thanks for the useful information guys, massive help! Did either not you spec the 18's? Curious how that might effect the ride...

Kept mine as standard 17"s, as I am not a fan of big wheels and skinny tyres. So far ride is smooth and fairly quiet.

I have standard 17" Teron and winter tyres on some 16" Dezent wheels. For me the ride is a touch better on the 16" and I would actually prefer to have them all year round, although the fact that they're lighter might also help.

Ride quality seems to be a very personal thing though!
