Would it be possible to install a boot release into one of the spare buttons in a 2007 Pre-Fl vRS ?

This guide shows how to do it on a mk5 Golf.

 

Obviously the button and installation is different, but the electronics + coding should be the same

Do some VRS's come with two button keys? If not I can't really see the reason for a release button.

My boot is unlocked with two presses of either the unlock button on the key or center console. I can also unlatch it with the 3rd button on the key.

Some Fords have them on the dash but they don't have a release on the actual boot lid.

The key has 3 buttons ... however it was more so to be able to release the boot while the key was in the ignition and being in the car
