CANTON too quiet.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have the Canton upgrade in my Octy III (with Amundsen) and I reckon the volume is rather weird. Meaning too low and/or random. I do not need to be blasting music at painful levels but I would somewhat expect the max volume to be, let's say, rather uncomfortable and that I would be normally using the system at around 40 - 60% of the power.

Not the case.

Sometimes I have to turn it all the way up to get a reasonable result and I would still go for more if it were available. Sometimes, on the other hand, it is perfectly fine and I am able to get good volume at 50-60% of the power and turning it all the way up generates an awful racket as it bloody should.

I have a life so I cannot really sit around in my car doing all sorts of experiments as to what this is related to. My wild guess is that the ICE is mishandling all the automatic volume reductions. As far as I know it turns down the volume at the startup, during announcements, with the parking assistant, during calls, voice commands and who knows when - I have like 5 sliders for that. Moreover, it has some sort of speed/volume adjustment too. It would seem that if a specific combo of these is engaged when the ICE fires up (like, reversing + fiddling with the nav) the volume stays somewhat broken for the rest of the ride. Not completely turned down but somewhat unable to fully restore.

It is, of course, next to impossible to replicate at will.

Does anybody have the same experience?

I think you may be right - but problem not limited to Amundsen/Canton.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
