Fuel Tank Capacity

Featured Replies

The official specified fuel tank capacity is stated at 45 litres.

However, I have just filled my tank up with BP Ultimate unleaded, when the fuel gauge was just touching the red zone (1/8th full), and have managed to get 47 litres in!

My question is:- does the tank hold more than 45 litres or have I been short changed with the fuel amount?

No you can get more in, search on this section for venting and it will all be clear.

It's all to to with an expansion tank or something....

Actually search the MK2 section!

As said the tank capacilty might be 45 litres, but then you have the filler tube volume which can take fuel.

Then as to Venting that can get you more than 5 litres in, but do not do Venting unless you understand the issues, and you are going to use up that fuel that has occupied the expansion (safety) space before parking up where the expansion space might be needed.

ie Pressure / ambient temperature changes.

There may be different tanks or at least charcoal filters mounted pending on regions. Ive tried the venting process only for the sake of doing it. Gave about 1 liter more capacity to fill.

Not necessarily a good idea as fuel will expand at higher temps.
