Oil leak

Featured Replies

Have oil leaking down the intake back side of engine.had a look under car and dont think its a turbo oil feed.seems to coming from higher up.its all over combi valve and that side as well

Was reading thru posts on here and someone mentioned camshaft oil seal and cam cover fasket. Changed the rocker gasket not too long ago so think can rule that out...wheres the camshaft oil seal and if any other ideas to check for all welcome

thanks

If you've changed the the valve cover gasket a few hundred miles ago, recheck the bolts on it in case they've worked loose.

The relevant cam shaft oil seals will be on the ends of the camshaft; if the valve cover has circles cast into one or both ends, there.

Just reading a bit and seems u have topull the timing belt to change the camshaft seals. Way above my experience level im afraid as much as id love to try it i reckon id need help aswel...

Still my belt is due a change so makes sense to have seals done at same time. Will try help out whoever does the job

Will clear out that side of engine and try pinpoint where leak coming from as mite not be seals anyway. Will post a pic when i do

Definitely recheck the cam cover specifically at the gearbox end where the half moon fill in part of the gasket is sited. I changed mine a few months back and it was leaking. I put this down to using a cheap pattern part so replaced it last week with a genuine Skoda part and tightened it down good and proper and it's still leaking despite all being clean and without damage on the faces of the head and cam cover.

When asking at the parts counter if there was a need to apply sealant there was no mentions on this on EKTA as an additional item so not sure what's going on.

I'm going to remove it, clean and degrease surfaces and then apply a thin layer of Hylomar blue around this area on the cylinder head surface only.

I suspect you may have a similar problem.

I will strip down the side of the engine to get better view of where exactly its leaking from but i did use gasket sealant on those specified points. I didnt change the tensioner gasket, think its like a little half moon fella, so also wondering if this could be the culprit

strange one as some people insist you dont need sealant and others obviously do. I figured it couldnt hurt and went with. will try get a pic up when get better view of it

thanks fellas
