Coolant Warning Light

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

Looking for a bit off help .

I've got a 2011 Octavia Vrs petrol and just recently as the weather has got colder the red warning light has been illuminating now and again but when you turn of ignition and switch on again it stays off . It doesn't do it every morning .

. It's not overheating or loosing water .

Any help ideas would be superb

Mine used to do this, you can try cleaning the prongs on the sensor in the coolant header tank with a small screwdriver,if that doesnt fix it then you will need a new sensor,im not sure if you can buy them on their own or if it is part of the header tank.

Appreciate it cheers .

Dealers master tech said it was the water pump straight away.

What ever happened to starting at the beginning

This used to happen on my MK1 Octavia vRS and as Mikey says, the first port of call used to be the sensor.  I didn't know the Mk2 did the same thing, worth knowing thanks.

As everybody said above, mine started doing exactly the same thing a couple of weeks ago, removed the cap and scraped the prongs (Even though there was no furring or obvious corrosion on them)  and haven't had the problem since, and its been bloody cold enough!
