I had headlamps that came on when i locked/unlocked my 15 plate but cant get it do it now..

ive tried the MFD display settings to no avail. any ideas? does the main light switch have to be on a certain position?

Do you have auto headlights?  Not sure the switch has to be in the auto position though, but I think you need to have the light sensor for auto headlights for them to work.

got auto lights

Do you know if it was an option or standard on your model?  It's possible that you may need VCDS to activate it it wasn't standard.

You need to have the main switch at 'Auto', otherwise coming home/leaving home lights won't work.  Make sure the light sensor isn't obscured in any way.  Obviously you need to have the right conditions as well i.e. it needs to be dark enough

Odd. Mine didn't come on this evening too. I tried locking / unlocking three or four times and nope, they weren't having any of it. I stopped on the way home to pop into a shop and when I returned to the car and unlocked it, they fired-up as usual. Never happened before...

Even something like a streetlight or a shop window light close to the front of the car can be enough to prevent the lights from coming on automatically.  I've noticed that before if I'm parked in well lit up areas, even if it the middle of the night.

Yep, but oddly I wasn't. I was parked in an area that had no lighting at all. Anyway, seemed to be OK once I'd stopped and they came on once I parked up at home again too.

That's the answer. Light switch on AUTO
