Ride Heights

Featured Replies

Hi folks. Just wondering if you could post the ride height of your cars. Standard right through to lowered with just springs or the full hog with coil overs.Had a set of vw racing springs fitted recently which are meant to lower 15-20mm. More like 25-30mm, great overall driving feel but lower than I wanted to go. Lets see what all the different brands give. Measure from contre of wheel to underside of wheel arch.

Cheers

Wouldn't it be easier to measure from the ground to the wheel arch?

No. Because different wheels and tyres give another result.

No. Because different wheels and tyres give another result.

Only if they are the wrong fitment for the car, i.e., overall diameter changes the gearing.   For instance, 225/40-18 and 225/35-19 only vary by 3mm in overall diameter.

I doubt if measuring from centre of wheel to wheel arch can be done to an accuracy better than 3mm.

All Audi workshop manuals states that the measurement is from centre to wheelarch.

Its only logic, because this measurement is not affected by size, tirepressure or surface.

But I agree with you that from ground is accurate enough.

Exactly. The ride height is indeed affected by the wheel and tyre size.

The gap between the arch and the tyre is a different parameter.

Just a matter of knowing tiresizes on the car messured. But it is very easy to measure from wheel centre. So I can't understand why it is a problem for some people. :)
