Dashcam hard wire

Featured Replies

Hi I know there are e few threads on this but I have recently tried to hard wire my Nextbase DC with a kit that piggy backs into the fusebox. Thing is all talk is about finding a n ignition controlled feed, I cant find any as the fusebox seems to be live all of the time. I didn't try all the fuses and wished to avoid any critical ones in case there was a problem. I have plugged it in anyway and now the hard wire kit has stopped supplying power to the DC! (possibly a fuse blown?). Are all Yetis fuseboxes always live? 2016 Yeti SEL

Several of the fuses on the fuse board control systems that are only active when the ignition is on... just pick one and piggy-back on that.  There are threads on here (and the other place) from owners who have done this... take clues from them.  I had my dash cam fitted by Halfords.... excellent job done for not much money and wiring completely invisible.  The fitter had no difficulty finding a suitable fuse to piggy back on. (Edit:  I believe my fitter used Fuse 6 (rear window wiper) as suggested by Urrell in next post)

The rear window wiper on fuse 6 is an ignition switched live.
Below shows the fuses as they are on the car, in the owners manual it shows them upside down.

Hi Guys, thanks for that. Yes Carlodiesel I did use the step down as supplied. I will check again at the weekend for No. 6 upside down!

I hard-wired my Roadhawk Vision just a couple of weeks ago using the method above and the rear window wiper fuse.  Works a treat.
