finally got started on my ICE install proper

Featured Replies

put some pics up a few weeks ago showing my cheapo install to get me some bass until everything arrived to finish it all...

Well in the most part it has all turned up now apart from the screen for the carpc, annoying as I dont think I will get it moulded in time for the meet now:mad:

So until that arrives have installed all my wiring, jl300/2 for the front mids, alpine f200 for the tweeters and m200 for the infinity perfect 12 sub. (being replaced when I decide on what I want) Front componants are mb quart 216qms, which are sublime compared to my old focal 165v2s, so much smoother and laid back, focals were far too harsh.

Also got the alpine h700 processor up and running, not had time to tweak too much yet but will make my job a lot easier! The headunit will be ditched when the screen turns up and will run just the carpc, using optical to the h700 should give me a noise free setup...

Only thing I didnt have time to do was dynamat the doors which should make a decent difference, and also mould in the cd drive for the pc into the headliining...

Pics when the alcantara arrives from boyriven:D

Only problem now is that the a pillar pod I have is messing slightly with the imaging of the tweets so looking to put them elsewhere for now, probably in the mirror pods where the oem tweeters were...

Right got some pics now as managed to get a bit further this week!

Boot install done until I upgrade the sub, will be going infinate baffle on the next one if I can get it to work properly with a id sub or 2.

Aweful camera phone makes it look weird but the boot light makes it look strange!

Also got my status panel done to an extent, fuse warning leds all work, PC related leds all work, just need to finish the dash moulding for the screen to get it in and working!

Also need to get the dvd/cdrw drive into the status panel as well as soon as I have got my ide-usb cable sorted

H700 fascia is installed, just waiting for the extension lead to turn up so I can start playing with the settings!

I'll reply Winx ;)

Looks good, I'm sure a close-up daylight shot of the screen and centre console remould will do it more justice. Looks cracking quality

You now have that many distractions - phone, screen, RoadAngel (?), pods - just remember to look where you're going

Steve

I'm interested - it's looking excellent :)

You see - look what I've started ;)

You could probably make a few bob if you're doing the centre consoles yourself. Were you one of the FFOC people who used to sell the modded centre consoles? :)

cheers guys!

Steve

Did you just buy a spare dash piece and get to work with a dremel?

hey winx, i tried to pm you this but your mailbox is full apparently!

hi winx, couldn't help but notice your rather awesome looking in-dash screen you installed in your octy, looks great!

Do you mind me asking how you got the fascia moulded around the lcd to achieve the "OEM" look?

I have a spare surround, and I want to do exactly the same thing as you managed, have a 7" tocuhscreen fitted in place of the double DIN space in the surround, but I don't have the foggiest how to go about it, did you have to get somebody to fabricated a custom surround or what?

I hope you don't mind all the questions,

Regards,

T

There's a chap on mp3car forums who's going to market a double DIN screen surround which will provide a very OEM-like look :D

I've been following the thread for a couple of months, and I can't believe no one has done it before considering the potential market of a smart touchscreen design that fits in a double DIN enclosure that doesn't require you to cut up your OEM dash ;)

If of interest to anyone, have a read here. Long thread, but it's all work in progress :D

edit: if there's enough interest, maybe we could organise a group buy :D
