I just discovered that my boot lock does not operate with the remote central locking...

 

I can un/lock it with the key and moving the cylinder does trigger a 'whirr-clunk' when un/locking it, but the remote does nothing in respect of the boot, just the doors.

I believe it's on the same fuse as the fuel cap release, which operates fine, so I assume that's not blown...

 

Is there anything else immediately likely to be the culprit, or am I going on a bug hunt?

Sounds similar to what I had, take off the boot trim and operate the central locking and see if the mechanism operates. There is also a small actuator which operates the mechanism. On mine the actual mechanism had siezed due a leaking wiper motor. When unlocked a small lever is conctacted by the handle to open the boot. When locked the actuator and mechanism should move this lever out of the way thus making the handle not actuate the lever. So mine was seized in the open position. Let me know how you go. I think I have an actuator (off an 8P A3 but looks the same) you can have if you want.

I had a go and couldn't see anything moving.

No sounds from the boot mechanisms, either.

 

Unlocking with the key just feels like I'm manually turning a motor and gears. Boot does open, so it's not a big inconvenience. I just kinda fancy getting it working, if I can.
