Spare key only unlocks driver door and boot

Featured Replies

So I got two keys when I bought the car back in 2011 and have used the same fob since day one. Wife decided to take the spare with her so she could let herself into the car whilst waiting for me to finish work.

Got to my car to find her sitting in the drivers side, it was the only door that the key would open.

Confirmed it - I can use the "spare" fob to lock all the doors, but it will only open drivers door and boot, even if used as a "key" rather than a remote fob.

Is this a standard setup thing?

You can set the way the key operates in the maxidot if you have it. Otherwise if you push the open button twice in succession all doors should unlock.

You can set the way the key operates in the maxidot if you have it. Otherwise if you push the open button twice in succession all doors should open.

Now that is what I assumed, that there would be a setting somewhere.

My main key is set to "one-click" open all doors, is there a separate setting in the maxidot for the "spare" key?

Or, do I unlock the door with the spare key and then reset the "all open, one click" as the car will be seeing a different key?

(if any of that makes sense)

You put the second key in the ignition then change the setting.

It should then save that setting against that key.
