Intermittent drivers rear door lock

Featured Replies

OK i can find topics about doors sticking shut but ours is different - 05 mkII Octavia 1.9tdi ambiante estate - over the past month and gradually getting worse it is taking more and more attempts to get the reaar drivers door to lock. Both from key in drivers door and remote fob, sometimes it goes first time and sometimes it can take 10 minutes and over 100 activations. You can hear when it has locked as there is a louder sound from the door lock but it is trying to do something each time.

I have tried to spray wd40 around the lock mechanism but due to the random nature of the number of times taken to lock i am not sure if this has helped or not.

Before i start ripping off door cards - any pointers/comments/suggestions ?

The doors lock micro switch could be faulty ? this used to be a common fault on the mk1 octavia/mk4 golf platform.
