Cycle roof carrier for hatchback

Featured Replies

I'm looking for roof bars and carriers for two mountain bikes to go on our hatchback vrs.

All I've found so far is the Thule stuff, but it seems a little expensive at £210 for the roof bars and fittings, and then £85 for holders for each bike.

Are there any cheaper alternatives

Thule gear expensive but great quality. Can usually find plenty s/h - I picked up some s/h aero bars and a 591 carrier for £50 all in on Gumtree. Just check you get all the parts!

I brought the Thule kit. It's very good! Always worth paying abit extra for quality.

Is there no rear mount option for the hatchback?

We bought two of Halfords cheapest bike carriers >>clicky<< to fit on our Aldi roof bars on the vRS estate as we were changing the car within a few months and they were find for a four hour journey as well as lots of short trips.

I'd advise you spend a bit more as these don't have locks but otherwise they were find and I'd have no issues with going on a decent trip with them.

Tow bar mounted is just so much better though.
