Featured Replies

hi,

my passenger belt needs replacing on my vrs, it was very slow to retract so i attempted cleaning it in soapy water then clipped it out so it could dry over a couple of days. problem is now it won't retract at all.

so, are all the belts the same or do i require one from another vrs? anything particular i need to know or is it a bolt off bolt on job after removing trims etc?

thanks i advance

I've had that problem highlighted by a keen bloke with advisories on some MOT. Do a search and you will find that the cure is to apply plenty of polish ( Mr Sheen type) with a good silicone base to the belt(s). My take on it is that come winter ( as I always have retract problems in winter) Fabias hold moisture in car, either as the door seals are tight, or the door cards are faulty and let moisture in to car. Without silicone in belts, they absorb moisture/swell and hence are slow to retard. Mrs VWD has just given car a going over and as she knows about the belt problem has done them. She does do a good job, as they pull out very easy now.
