MK2 Pre FL Head Unit Help (Sorry!)

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, firstly I'm so sorry to ask what has inevitably been asked many times before but I've read so much my brain hurts!

My Mrs has got a pre-fl vRS with a Stream MP3 fitted. It doesn't have steering wheel controls or an aux in. It does have a cd changer though.

She's on my case about wanting her iPod in the car and unlike my mk1 Octavia it seems there are quite a few things I have to get around. I was hoping someone could help me with a few answers!

If i fit an aftermarket unit, the info display on the dash might not work?

I can add an aux in to the Stream using the guide I saw on here somewhere but I'd need someone to unlock the function?

I could get a higher spec factory unit and fit that but again it'd need plugging in to work fully?

We don't need sat nav or even the cd changer.

Can someone help me... Please?!

Thank you :)

If you haven't got controls on the steering wheel then I'm guessing you haven't got maxidot. If you haven't got that, I'd just stick any aftermarket in that fits your requirements.

What info is displayed in the dash? You will still have access to the trip computer etc even if you replace with an aftermarket unit.

Brilliant thank you :)

The dash display is just mpg etc. Nothing at all flash.

So a facia adaptor, some sort of ISO adaptor and I should be away!

I've been looking on eBay and wondered whether this might work? I'm sure that I've read on here somewhere that someone else has used one with some success.
