Car wash in winter?

Featured Replies

Hi all!

So I made this short video (plan on making better one in summer) how I usually wash my car and talked some things I read, what you should know while washing your car in winter and temperatures below zero.

So I thought I should start a topic here to on the mater. :)

So how you guys take care of your baby in winter?

Winter can be October to March or even April to September but lots of places might see very few days with temperatures at or below freezing or even night times.

Pointless washing when the water is going to freeze on the car or where it is parked.

Pointless and not nice if the locks freeze the doors fill with water that freezes and does not drain, same with the Air Intake for the Heater / Ventilation,

and does not thaw.

So basically washing when there is not a freeze and drying and caring for the paint and wheels will depend on Location Location Location,

if you can not wash it one day you maybe can the next, just wait for it to get rainy or sunny.

I would not wash my car when the temp is below zero.

Here in Finland I tend to use hand wash businesses that operate indoors, mostly in shopping centers, and then I let the car inside the parking to dry.

As I type this, it is -20C outside... How could you consider washing a car on these temps outside? :)

Sounds like a great plan.

I love this about Portugal in Summer when we stay in Lisbon with family.

All the car washes in the basement parking lots working in the shade, avoiding the other extreme of +40degC!

Washed mine over the weekend - luckily it was about 5C :-)

Very brief details about my cleaning regime in the link on my profile. It's all about the paint protection!

As a curiosity, I am actually from Portugal although I have been living in Finland for 15 years :D
