Mk1 Fabia Vrs Cambelt Kit

Featured Replies

After a happy 1 years ownership and 10000 miles covered my vrs is now due a cambelt change.

After a bit of research it seems the gates kit is the one to go for?

Could anyone tell me the best place to buy the gates kit, including water pump?

Only place I have seen is eBay but not sure how reputable the sellers on there are.

Thanks in advance.

A VaG trade parts seller is my place to go.

Genuine parts but without the dealer premium.

JRJG

£146 or something around there, then £20 back for your old waterpump. Not exact figures but roughly.

After searching around this is the cheapest I can find the kit:

Can anyone firstly confirm this is the correct kit, and secondly is this a reputable seller that people have used before?

cheers

Looks like the water pump has a plastic impeller. Pay a bit more for a metal one.

I read on here a little while ago people were recommending plastic ones? I'm sure I read people saying if plastic one fails the car just gets hot, if a metal one fails it can destroy your engine?

Hey

Mine is due too I believe (60k intervals for a fabia vrs 2005 right?)  Mine's at 183k with last done just before 120k.  I've just found this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Timing-Belt-Kit-and-Water-Pump-For-VW-Audi-Seat-Skoda-Ford-1-4TDI-1-9TDI-/331778895962?hash=item4d3f90305a:g:25IAAOSwuAVWwfQw

At 183k miles I'm not expecting to need another one done (240k!?) Unfortunately but funds are tight at the moment...  As always I'm a little wary on going for cheaper options but the water pump is not plastic as someone mentioned above.

Thoughts?
