mk2 fabia sub

Featured Replies

Looking at upgrading my sound system in my MK2 Fabia Monte Carlo,  Spoke to a friend who works for an Audio car place and the plan is to update the speakers to Focal Access (wanting to keep the car looking completely normal) connected to the stock amundsen + headunit and then dynamatting the car.

So a couple of questions

1. The covers on the A pillar are rectangle are the tweeters underneth the same or circle? as the focal ones are circle and want to have an idea before ripping the car apart.

2. we also spoke about fitting a sub but i dont want to lose any of the boot space, the idea we had was to take out the spare wheel and put the sub in the spare wheel well and raise the boot slightly but i will still have the length and width of the boot to fit in a suitcase/bags etc. The only issue i can see is the Mk2 fabia does have a habit of leaking into spare wheel well, touch wood mines has been fine but im wondering if anyone else has did this and what issues they might have had.

1. The tweeters will be circle. Could be smaller than the focals though

2. You would need to build a box under a false floor then re-carpet it. The sub wouldnt be open to the wheel well. If its going to leak tho i'd expect its already doing it so have a look.

With regards to the speakers. Make sure the mids are fitted properly. Plastic adaptors from autoleads are not the way to go. I'd also recomend using sound deadening on the inner and outer skins of the door along with the inside of the door trim.

Thanks it's been fine so far but I know a few people have had issues.

Its being done by a professional company and the sounds proofing we are using will be dynamat.

Do you think the focal access won't fit the stock speaker mounts?

They wont fit as the oem speakers are moulded into the mounts. They will have to make some mounts for it.

I guess its dynamat as thats what they sell? I personaly would recomend silent coat or second skin over dynamat.

They sell dynamat and other stuff but I've been in 2 of the cars of the people that work there and preferred the sound of the dynamat :)

I will say ive never come across being able to tell the difference between products. More if one works better than the other.

Regards the sub, i do hope they arent planning on using the wheel well as the enclosure and are going to build a box for it in the wheel well.
