Number plate light "holding unit thingy"

Featured Replies

It's possible that there is such a topic, but there is +40k to read so...

Problem is that the unit that holds number plate light has fallen out, it is hold by two small torx screws. What I do not understand is what it actually screws in to. There ia a hole for it to in to, but nothing to screw in to.

Anyone had this problem? Any reasonable solutions?

Looking at the Workshop Manual it seems like they screw directly into the tailgate bodywork

Is it possible they've been overtightened and the threads stripped?

I think from memory that there are little plastic inserts, you could try the smalest normal household plastic plugs you could find, or visit the dealer

+1 for small plastic insert that pushes into the bodywork hole, then use the torx scew into the plastic insert.

One on my Octavia was chewed up at one point.  Part No N90837801.  Pennies to buy but the dealer would probably need to order it in.
